Interviewed by Mike Robertson

This past week I was interviewed by my friend and colleague Mike Robertson.

It is always an honor to get asked to do these things and hopefully my answers provide some good food for though. Some of the topics we covered include:

  • My background
  • Training and Sports Massage
  • My concepts on the Physiological Buffer Zone (which are laid out in greater detail in the new DVD coming out that I did with Charlie Weingroff and Joel Jamieson)

Enjoy!

Patrick,

Great interview! I’ve read your bio on this website and noticed that you hold an MS in Exercise Science, despite studying music in your undergraduate years. I was just wondering if you can talk a little more about this transition you made, especially with regards to what you did to prepare for graduate study and make yourself more desirable to admissions committees, despite what can be perceived as lack of preparation based on what you studied in your undergraduate years. For example, did you earn your CSCS certification and work in the industry beforehand? I have a Bachelor’s in engineering, but am looking to make the switch to kinesiology in graduate school, so any suggestions you have will be helpful!

Thanks.

Jeremy,

Thank you for checking out the interview.

I did earn my CSCS prior to going for my Masters degree. I also studied a lot of exercise science on my own – reading textbooks and research – to prepare myself. It can be tough when you come from an unrelated field but it can be done if you work at it.

Hi Patrick,

I have searched a little bit and asked a couple guys with no definitive word on a release date for that DVD. Any specifics you can give us?

Thanks

Nick,

Hopefully soon! Joel was finishing up some stuff with the website. I am hoping in the next few weeks.

Thanks for asking!
